Autism Treatment - Chemical Exposure, Treatments and Autism Part 2 of 2

We started our 2 part series on chemical exposures and treatments by talking about a few of the ways that children are exposed to chemicals and how the use of Epsom salts can be a good way to aid in detoxification. My normal recommendation for acute exposure to chemicals is an Epsom salt bath daily for between 7 and 10 days. Acute exposure is like if someone is spraying their yard or your neighborhood with some sort of chemical like weed killers, etc. And typically my suggested maintenance for most children is an Epsom salt bath 3 to 4 times per week.

I suggest that if your child has never taken an Epsom salt bath before that you start very slow and only add a little bit at first since some children do have sensitive skin and the water will be a little salty. I would suggest starting out with one half of a cup of salts especially if your child has sensitive skin or you just aren't sure how they will react at first. And then you can try increasing the amount you add, working up to what I generally recommend which is 2 to 3 cups in the bath and doing them about 3 to 4 times per week. And certainly you can do it more often than the recommended 3 to 4 times per week, it will not harm them at all.

Summer is almost here and we will be moving into the warmer months which depending on where you live may mean a lot of time swimming in the pool for your child. And while I really encourage swimming, and any outdoor activity really, they will have exposure to chlorine. After swimming, if you have access to a bathtub, you can put them into an Epsom salt bath to help detox the chlorine. Or if you cannot get access to a bathtub you can use Epsom salt cream instead. New Beginnings carries the Epsom salt cream and a standard dose depends on the size of your child but could range from one to two teaspoons. You rub the cream into their skin on their arms, back, abdomen, etc. after swimming and you can do this a couple of times each day. So if you want to add more magnesium sulfate into your child to aid in detoxification, you can do so through the Epsom salt cream or by putting them in an Epsom salt bath.

Autism really is treatable! Biomedical Autism treatments and therapies have resulted in many, many children improving, or even even losing their autism-spectrum disorder diagnosis.
